I am looking at the date showing on my computer and can hardly believe we are already a week into 2010.  I am still finding myself going to write 09 but I have been catching myself before I write the nine.  I discovered that it is easy to slip a 1 in front of the zero as long as I have not written in the 9 yet.  Last year I made my resolutions and am happy to say that I followed through on them to my satisfaction.  Towards the end of last year I began to contemplate the resolutions that I wanted to make for 2010. Then as the New Year came, an interesting thing happened….I no longer felt the desire to make a list of resolutions. Now this is not to say I am not making a few changes in my life but I am not as steadfast on establishing a set list. This year I have decided to make positive changes in my life as the opportunity unfolds before me.  I am not forcing the changes but being patient for them to evolve in a more natural way. So today I went for a leisurely walk down to the beach and it felt good, it felt right.  I listened to the birds and the waves.  I watched the “new mommies” working out in a group with their babies in strollers.  I watched the surfers waiting for waves and even catching a few too.  I watched the life in everything around me.  As I did this I could feel the life in me too.  It was peaceful.

Varuna was asked to be a guest speaker at Laguna College of Art and Design. He re-gave his Senior Capstone Thesis Presentation. You can read about that at his blog. I went along for the ride and brought my yarn and crochet hook. Here is the result…

Preemie hat #4

Preemie hat #4

I put this one on my hand to photograph to give it scale. Keep in mind I do have fairly large hands. This is the smallest hat I have made so far. I have been making a variety of sizes. This one I know is definitely for a preemie. Some of the others might be considered better size for a newborn. Hat # 3 can be seen here.  I have been working on another knitting project that is quite large, as far as my knitting projects go, so I have been happy to break it up by throwing in some crochet.

I had just finished attaching the pom-pom when he came back to meet me.  The timing was perfect.

This morning is the first day I have not had a pounding headache in days(have had a head-cold).  I reheated leftover coffee from yesterday, the perfect amount for one large cup.  Made my way to the computer to check my emails.  I usually take a peak at headlines and saw something about an animal video so I clicked the link to check it out.  I didn’t find it very funny.  THEN this one played and I found it hilarious and inspiring.   Maybe it is just because I am still waking up, but it made me laugh and I replayed it too!  Made me think, “hey, if this bird can get this kind of exercise for over 2 minutes straight then I can too!”  Now granted I know I need to exercise for more than 2 minutes straight but my POINT is I am left feeling inspired and light-hearted.  What a great way to begin a day.  I hope this does the same for you.  We need more good-natured laughter in the world.

This past week has felt like a roller-coaster.

Come on, admit it, you have them too!  One minute you’re up…the next you’re down….hang on tight for the corner….the expected, yet somehow unexpected, drop out from under you….then you coast again.  I wasn’t feeling well and got a text from a friend to look outside my door.  I looked outside and there was a hot coffee from Coffee Bean & Tea Leaf.  There was also a 10 day pass to a local yoga studio!  What a perfect combination for me.  Many thanks dear-heart!!!

A major task this week has been paperwork.  I managed to complete two of the six major ones I have to finish.  So back to the papers for me after I upload this blog.  Two down, four to go!  The cat has been an added incentive to finish the mound o’ papers. She decided to climb all over the piles on my desk to wake me up.  The sound of falling pages definitely got me out of bed!

Thought I had completed my second painting but a day later I noticed a detail I left off.  So that is back into the rotation.  Won’t take long to remedy, but I will need a steady hand for the fine detail.  I like to work on multiple projects at the same time, so I will begin my third and  fourth at the same time.

Another boost to my week was $20 dollars for Valentine’s treats.  So, I decided to buy some hair dye and have some fun.  I was going to try to do it myself.  I scoured the web looking for 2-tone hair color pictures.  I even tried You Tube.  I managed to find a few pointers on how to do the process.  I am very grateful for my girlfriends!  This time it was Jeanine to the rescue!  She came over and colored my hair for me.  Don’t get me wrong, I LOVE to go to the salon because I LOVE the hair-stylist I have, (she is AWESOME at her art), but that visit just is not in my current budget.  BUT, having girl-time and $15 dollars was in my budget this week!  Priceless! Thanks again Jeanine!

This is the back view when braided.  Just a fun thing to try, at least once in my life.  So many things to experience.

I’m grateful that the sun is shining and it is a beautiful day.  I am also grateful to have all of you in my life.  Thanks !

Yesterday evening as I sipped chai with my friend Marie, I began to share some of the new things I discovered while online.  I told her that I would forward her the information.  She asked me if the links were on my blog.  I thought about it for a second and said I really should do that!  I’m not sure if venturing this way will make my blog go in too many different directions but I am going to try for awhile.  Feels right at this moment and as I am focusing on living in the present….here I go!

My fiber work keeps me researching new patterns, techniques, and various groups for fiber arts.  More ideas for my hat-making Resolution. While browsing some groups on Ravelry.com I saw a mention of this YouTube on TINY knitting.  Check it out!

This is a video of some VERY small needle work. Miniature Knitting by Althea Crome, her website is bugknits.com. Continuing with my fascination with needles and hooks here is another YouTube I found inspiring.

Now I want to make dolls or marionettes…ah so many inspiring things in life!
