Organic Gardening Magazine update.

As many of you know, I was a finalist in the Organic Gardening Magazine Reader’s Photo contest. Well, I stopped in a bookstore yesterday and when I saw the magazine section I decided to see if they carried the magazine. I saw it was the Feb/March issue and I thought the results were going to be in the January issue but decided to look at the issue anyways because I just love the magazine. Then I was looking through the pages I saw the winning image! It wasn’t mine, but my name is listed in the magazine as one of the top finalists. Maybe it sounds dorky but I am ecstatic to have MY name listed in a magazine that I love to read. This is my first time in a magazine AND they spelled my name right. So for those interested in seeing the winning image AND just seeing my name in print check it out on page 16. At the end of the article they list that my image, and those of the other finalists, can be viewed online at OrganicGardening.com. A huge thank you to those that did take the time to vote for my image. Still dreaming of a DSLR and as it is on my list, I know it will happen one day. Welcome 2012! I am grateful for the New Year which is bringing many new beginnings for me. I have an ongoing list, a bucket list if you will, and I have already been able to cross one thing off my list. I took the leap, or better to say ascent, and went up in a balloon! Up, up, and away….well not exactly away since the balloon is lifted by helium, not hot air and it levels out at 400 feet high but still tethered to the ground.

As a Massage Therapist, I am constantly learning of new things from my clients and this one was a hit! Thank you to Laura for the recommendation for free things to do in Orange County. The Great Park in Irvine features free balloon and carousel rides(check their website for special events that might have a fee on certain days). I haven’t been on a carousel in forever and of course I eagerly jumped in line for a ride! We lucked out because there was no line for the carousel ride and it helped to pass the time as we waited for our turn to go up in the balloon. They also have farming exhibits and an art gallery within easy walking distance of the balloon. Here is a pointer, check the website first for the hours of the balloon rides AND go check in and get on the list for the balloon ride as soon as you arrive at the park.
